Speaker BiographyStephen Stradling, Ph.D., AFBPsS, C Psychology
Dr. Stradling is professor of transport psychology at Napier University in Edinburgh, Scotland. He is attached to the university’s Transport Research Institute. He divides his time between research in traffic psychology – “which car drivers and motorcyclists are the crash magnets?” – and transport psychology – “why are we so ambivalent about our cars?” Dr. Stradling actively publishes in these areas, including chapters in two recent books (Threats from car traffic to the quality of urban life: Problems, causes and solutions and Transport geographies: Mobilities, flows and spaces) and articles in Transportation Research Part A: Policy and Practice, the British Journal of Psychology, Ergonomics, and many others. Dr. Stradling is very successful obtaining grants and contracts to support his research, including recent awards from the Department for Transport, the EU, and Scottish Executive. He further advises the Scottish Transport Minister on road safety strategies. |
